Lighting techniques

Background lighting

Backlight provides sharp silhouettes of objects for edge detection and even illumination of dark and transparent targets.

Application: Contour / surface of objects If the contours of an object are measured and if the lighting can be placed under the object, backlighting is the right choice.

Dark field ring lighting

Dark fields are available in standard sizes 25-276 mm in diameter with different cut-off angles.

Application: Contour / texture of objects For the detection of edges and contours, dark field is a suitable solution.

Ring lighting

Ring lighting provides even lighting. There are sizes to fit all standard optics boots size 44mm. Larger standard sizes from 44 to 348 mm in diameter.

Application: For standard non-reflective applications, ring lighting is suitable.

Line lighting

Line lighting is available in almost any length. Standard size varies from 50 to 466 mm.

Application: Non-reflective thin or oblong objectsThin or oblong objects can also be illuminated by one or more lines of light at a greater distance. There are single row, double row and four square lights that are configured for each application.

Coaxial lighting

Coaxial lights only allow reflection from the flat surface. It provides good contrast even on shiny objects. Standard size from 25 x 25 mm to 145 x 145 mm.

Application: Shadows can affect the result. Coaxial lighting can reduce these shadows. Shading will usually be greatly reduced.

Tunnel lighting

Dome or tunnel lighting provides undirected diffuse light, which eliminates reflections and shadows. The standard dome lighting is available in sizes from 44 to 348 mm.

Application: reflective objectsDome or tunnel lighting provides diffused light, and eliminates disturbing reflections, comparable to a cloudy sky.
